1. Independent Women’s Forum Essay Contest

The Independent Women’s Forum Essay Contest is available to full-time female students enrolled as an undergraduate in any college or university during the 2008-2009 school year. To be eligible for this award, you must read the articles listed on the sponsor’s Web site and submit a typed, double-spaced essay of no longer than 750 words on the topic listed in the application on the web site.

2.Barbara Wiedener and Dorothy Vandercook Memorial Peace Scholarship
Amount:$250 – $500
Scholarships Available: 166
The Barbara Wiedener and Dorothy Vandercook Memorial Peace Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college freshmen. You must write a brief biography of your activities or work (volunteer or paid) relating to peace and social justice, nuclear disarmament, and/or conflict resolution. You must also describe your plans for contributing to a peaceful and just society in the future. Two letters of recommendation substantiating your activities are required.

3. Gaia Community Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Scholarships Available: 2
The Gaia Community Scholarship is available to students aspiring to be the change they wish to see in the world, live authentically and make a difference. You must answer the questions listed on the sponsor’s website, one in under 25 words and two in under 250 words per question. Applicants who wish to apply online must register as members on the site for processing purposes, but you can also apply via regular mail without registering.
